Would you rather have a job you can make a lot of money from with no benefits/retirement plans, or would you rather have an okay paying job with benefits/retirement plans?

I am very curious in how people think, because there are times where I really do not agree with what my closest friends and family agrees upon. Basically, this came up because my parents and I are Vietnamese, but they are totally against kids who were borned in America, and have the ability to learn well, and become something of theirselves but give that up to become a nail technician just because they make a lot of money. I sort of agree with the concept, but not fully because I think people should be able to do whatever they want, but I see that my parents have a point, they migrated from the horrible times in VN to come over here and offer their kids a better one. So to here that any of us just gave up on school just to do nails for a living, it would really upset them but none of us have done that or is thinking to. I am just wondering what everyone has to say because my best friend who is also Vietnamese had a life changing event, and now had two options. Because being a manicurist pays a lot and it’s fast, she chooses it over an ok paying job with long term benefits because of how much money she sees coming in at the moment. I am not against it, but as a best friend I certainly want the best for her, and advised her otherwise. So out of curiosity, I just would like to know what everyone thinks is best.

my option = take the job with benefits and do nails on the side in your free time. Retire early, supplement pension with nails business.

Fast easy money with no benefits.. it gives me more options that I can decide for myself.. spend majority of my life working, just to survive and stay afloat.. if I had an opportunity to make a larger sum of money in a shorter time span I would go that route.. it would also be a must to have a professional input on investments and frugal living

I call it being a free thinking individual...The only opinion that really matters is that of the person who has that opinion

Since we spend most of our adult lives working, I believe its important to have a job you like. In my experience the happiest and most successful people work for themselves doing whatever it is they feel happiest doing. Even when working for someone else it should be something you enjoy since you will spend most of your life working.

i don't care what anyone says,, being your own boss is way better than making money for someone else,, the difference in money is a lot, and unless you are brain dead, you set up a retirement account and health insurance, and get a good lawyer/accountant to advise you on what to spend, and on what/where,, and you still come out way ahead on the pay side,,,
