If confronted by a grizzly, climb a tree. Grizzlies can't climb trees. Black and brown bears do tho. So don't even bother. They'll be right behind you swatting at your rear end. No grizzlies in Ontario Canada that I've heard of or seen. Brown and black bears yes. We get them around our house sometimes. If you're in the bush make lots of noise. It scares them away. I'm usually armed in bear country (even to go to the out house at night, because it's wolf country too). Not so much when boating or diving (I don't have Al's faith in bang sticks).
