What book character or team needs a movie or series?

By Brian . Created on Mar 22, 2020
I enjoy reading, but also watching films based on books. That said, seems to me there are characters and teams out there who have been in many novels, but never filmed for movies or TV. (Though in one of these cases they have, but not well done in my opinion). I've picked five of my favorites, but feel free to add your own.

Personally, I get very little satisfaction in watching Hollywood, or cable, or HBO butcher perfectly decent literature.

Fair enough, though I have seen some pretty good adaptations of books I've read and enjoyed them. There's always going to be some differences just because it's two different media.

Hunt for Red October was a great book and a great film adaption,, but i agree most books take a beating when adapted to film

The Dark tower,, final answer

Agreed, I was not at all impressed with The Dark Tower film from a few years back, they tried to cram an eight book saga into one film. I had to keep explaining things to the friends I saw it with, they were a bit confused. Really needs to be done like Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead as a series.

most of king's books are hard to set to film, look at the shining, whole different ending than the book,, all king's books shud be in paperback or audio books, very few of his books transfer good to the big screen, just to much content,,,
Agent Pendergast - Douglas Preston / Lincoln Child

Thought provoking poll, thanks!

I was under the impression Pendergast appeared in the movie The Relic, since he was in the book, but apparently not, so changed my question a bit. But yeah, interesting guy with a sort of Sherlock Holmes mind, and have been several books about him.

Several of the Clive Cussler novels involving stories of sea adventures would be great.
Brian said a week ago
Agreed, Cussler penned some great tales, and not all have been 'brought to life' on the screen.

We never know what Hollywood will produce.
