Siblings have passed away within the last year. Have you ever thought about what your wishes are if you pass away.

My 4 siblings and I are between the ages of 59-63 years old. Unfortunately my brother Adam was murdered, which nobody is ever prepared for and my sister Victoria passed away from Cancer. I have been thinking about my own family and the effects on them. I don't want a funeral, or have them remember me in that state. I don't want them to have any financial burdens, because death alone is hard enough on everybody. So I have made my wishes known to my family just in case. In my brothers situation the circumstances were different but my sisters situation is different. The family is now in the middle of a battle of her insurance policy and basically its a family circus. I don't want that to be my situation at all. Regardless of your age we never know what can happen and too many people fight over money and things when people pass away. These 2 situations has made me think that I should be prepared for the inevitable.

In the process of updating...important as you learn when your relatives didn't take care of this and add all sorts of difficulties

My advice to ANYONE is this : get a will drawn up , with a living will provision included , and have it filed with you city / county / municipality . If you don't , your deceased loved one's affairs will most likely go to probate , and you will have to hire a lawyer to sort it all out , & the lawyers will get more than you ever will.

I have willed my body to science. I want no gravesite. My ashes will be interred at the teaching hospital with other uniform donors.

I want to be cremated. Then my ashes spread over the Ft Lauderdale beaches just before spring break. This way all the hottie college girls will lay on top of me.
This also works for the ladies except they will have the college hunks.

Sorry Abby for your loss. i will definitely think about it now. i always believe that family members who are no longer with you in the flesh is with you in the spirit. my mother passed on 2 years ago and at times i can smell her perfume and i believe she is visiting and it comforts me.

Thank you Lorna. I agree about members in my family being here in spirit. I talk to my brother all the time and hope he hears me. I'm certainly glad it gives you something to consider...

I'm clear on how I want to live in my last fifth of life, and what I'd like to have happen beyond that. I've also prepared both my will and Living Will, so I'm good to go.

Did my funeral and cemetery pre-arrangements in my 30's. Parents did theirs first, as well as other family members long before anyone was even sick. Smartest financial and emotional decision EVER! Probably the most considerate planning ahead any person can do for their loved ones.
