Generally lying is not ok, however if it is to protect someone's feelings, or safety, then perhaps, but "bend the truth" in a tactful way. I've had family members tell me their version of "truth" about some things, and it cut to the core, a wound that will never heal. It depends on the situation. Lying to the government? NO! Lying to your spouse when she insists on knowing exactly what you're working on for the government? YES!!!!!!!

I like truth but if it's a white lie or your covering up for a surprise then sure.
