It's getting way to expensive for most families to take their kids to an amusement park or ballgame, etc. It's a real shame.

IF your kids are old enough, it's fun to do a "scavenger" hunt of different nature type items. A certain shape of a leaf, say a maple leaf, oak, or sycamore. They can find an oddly shaped rock, a bird feather, or even a fallen (small) limb/twig of a tree. Lots of good, free outdoor activities already mentioned (pls pick up litter on your way out :-), and indoor fun can be had w. blanket forts, scavenger hunts, music making w. keys, pans, etc., or using some of those cardboard boxes to make stuff. Stimulating a growing child is not only physically demanding, it's mentally exhausting. But, such fun 🤸‍♀️

He decorated it with inexpensive stickers from the local dollar type store. I don't know if very many places use boxes that size anymore, but several good size boxes stacked up will work just as well. Even a cardboard box "tunnel" wh...

Right again, Marie :-) Good play is hard work, but So worth it! We, too, had such a huge box - what fun that was - and a (pirate treasure) dress-up trunk! Hey, Marie - May I come over and play?;-))
