No celebration this year. Just stayed home. I think celebrations during everything that has happened in the last year and a half are really selfish. Too much has happened.

I did not celebrate do to the bad taste left in my mouth due to our government's involvement in residential schools and the churches not owning up to there involvement in the unmarked graves not to mention that this so called free country was still running a similar program till 1997 what a disgrace to all of us who in the f%%k thought this was acceptable or a good idea trying to rape Indigenous people of there cult...

Until ANY malfeasance is shown to have occurred - many of those 'unmarked' graves are a result of simple abandonment by the descendant who A) did not want the dead returned and B) did not want to upkeep the gr...

I didn't celebrate. All those unmarked children's graves being discovered at government-sanctioned Indian Residential "Schools" this summer made celebrating Canada Day impossible for me. I was and still am much too sad and upset and angry.

Something from the past? The survivors and the families of both those survivors and of these dead children are still alive and still being impacted today. The last of these "schools" didn't close until 1997. You must be very young and ignorant to believe that the evils of these schools no longer affect people.
