I live in Eugene, Oregon.I I am Mexican American!! I have lived here since 1984. I had asked for an application at Taco Bell and was told they weren't hiring, So I ordered food and was eating a Caucasian male walked in not even 5 minutes later asked for an application and was given one. I was Angry. I walked up to the counter and asked to speak to the manager. By the way she was the one that said they weren't hiring and also gave that man an application. I told her I asked you for an application and you said you weren't hiring? She said oh you could have one now!! I crumpled it up and threw it at her and left there actually crying!! For the longest time that affected me. I wasn't even proud to be me for the longest time, I really struggled for a long time. It was shocking!! I am a person like anyone else. People who think they are better than me are wrong. Im sure this is gonna kick up the dust and we will see the ugly face of racism here!! That's what I expect anyway. Now though I don't even care what people think~~ I am here and am not going anywhere. If you don't like my presence that's not my problem its yours.

I was called a honky(H word) by a bunch of black kids. But who cares? They did the same to a bunch of caucasian kids. It's how a child is raised. They learn from their parents and then they pass it on to their children. Racism is in every nationality. If you say something back or cry about it, they win.

I wasn’t treated differently because of MY race but verbally assaulted for marrying a black man. My stepfather disowned me. I’m a strong woman and never let those “small” people bother me. I don’t live my life according to other people’s rules. Their attitudes spoke volumes about who they are. No use for bigotry from anyone!

Well done Abby! I'm sorry for your pain, but good on you for picking yourself up and moving beyond those haters! I admire you, just don't keep in anger as it's very bad for your health :-) Now, the question is, where do you put it?

Good advice M A :) There’s a song “Golden” by Jill Scott. To answer your question: Where do you put it? Answer : 🎶 “ I'm taking my freedom, Putting it on my chain, wearing it around my neck, I'm taking my freedom, putting it in my car, Wherever I choose to go, it will take me far, I'm living my life like its golden, living my life like its golden.....”✌🏼

Thanks LJP, haha, I am living in a real world golden wonderland - the colours all around me are beautiful - golden! The Shaker inspired tune ``Simple Gifts`` is one I`ve always liked.

Humans can be so cruel sometimes. Never understood why. We are ALL Human beings, with unique feelings, thoughts, heritages, cultures, customs and beliefs. We are each our own individual self, that's what makes us ALL important in this crazy world.

Yes, I have been discriminated against because of the color of my skin. My kids don't play basketball, run track, or football. My kids enjoy sports like archery, swimming, and scubba diving. I walk into a store to purchase "scubba" gear, and the man behind the counter basically escorted me out of the store. Saying phrases like "you wont be able to afford gear in here, you're better off going...

Our family moved out of Detroit to the suburbs when I was 4 years to a brand new but small G I. Financed no money down home ! We had a good life and despite family hardships grew healthy ! In high school and other schools in our town I realized there were very few minorities not only in school but in our town! Not exactly sure but I later guessed redlining and other prejudicial reasons kept minorities from mov...
