I'm glad I have the right to protect myself. Yes guns are different compared to the ones back then but it's still our right. People can make bombs from items at a local grocery store that worries me more then anything.

Nope! An educated, free, armed electorate helps keep our democracy! Probably the main reason the Japanese empire did not invade the USA after Pearl Harbor because they feared too many guns in the hands of its private citizens! The right to bear arms an essential right of Americans to defend and protect themselves against all enemies foreign and domestic!

Society has changed since the writing of the constitution. The writers at that time has no idea of the kinds of people or the kinds of weapons we would have. The structure of society has drastically changed and so should the amendment.
