Do you know of any children who can't tell time by observing the hands on a clock ? a clock

I have a grandfather clock in my home and recently I asked my 10 year old grandson to go see what time it was. After being gone a few minutes in the other room, I asked " Well what time is it." He came back into the room where I was and said " I don't know Papa. There are no numbers and I don't know what those pointy things are." I laughed, then explained to him about the big hand and the little hand and the second hand . I also had to teach him about Roman numerals on a clock . He's a smart kid and with a little patience, I was able to teach him how we told time in the "old days". Now when he comes over, he runs into the other room and looks to see what time it is and runs back to tell me. He has taught his friends how to read old analog clocks too. I wonder how many other kids and up to what age have we moved forward with our technology so quickly that we don't teach them where the new ideas and gadgets came from. Of'course he's a wizard with any electronic device in the house and I can't remember which remote works with which device so I teach him the past and he teaches me the present and we both daydream about the future.

At Busch Gardens a few years ago, a storm came through and knocked out their computers. I swear: the cashiers did not know how to make change. We had to tell ours how much she owed us in change. She didn't appear to even know how to figure it on paper, just stood there looking helpless.
