As with most things, if you don't let the video games take over your life and you play them for a reasonable time, you can actually learn from games. You can increase your brain function, your motor skills, and your typing or finger/wrist/hand skills.

Playing video games really helped keep my brain active and engaged after a serious MVA, I liked them beforehand, I love them now. From shooters to role playing - I think the only "bad" aspect is if you let it take up your life, that being said I know some semi-professional players too. So enjoy!

In the forties they claimed billiards was evil. In the fifties it was bowling. Sixties pinball. Seventies video arcades. Some people are just afraid of anything new or that they aren't familiar with. All things in moderation including whatever video game you may enjoy.
