Why should a dog eat dog food if it knows that if it holds out long enough , It can "beg" for the good stuff (People food) . Plus , certain spices are dangerous to pets.

Yeah, I have a little Jack Russell, and she gets stuff that falls on the floor, and some table scraps, (bacon)!!!!

My dog eats her own doggie food. Occasionally, I give my dog a little chicken/turkey breast, peas, carrots & bite-sized apples :)

Try cooked sweet potato, it's very good for them, and is an ingredient in many "natural" dog foods. Not much though maybe a teaspoon or two, as it does have natural sugars, and that's not good for them to have too much sugar. My "fluffy" little dachshund when we had to put her on a restricted diet, I would get a bag of frozen vegetable blends. With carrots, squash/zucchini, cauliflower,...

Oh yeah Sweet potato is good. Our vet mentioned it. I will do so on an occasion next time. Thanks for sharing some tips :)

he gets a small amount of people food, but only stuff that is good for him, unfortunately he loves seafood and it is good for him, but if i'm having scallops, clams, fish, shrimp etc, he will glue his butt by my feet and patiently wait for me to finish as he knows his will be coming,, i never did like a begging dog when folks are eating, so he got trained right from the get go about begging ;-))

I don't currently have a dog, but recall we did do this occasionally with the family cats, so would likely do the same with a dogs, but in moderation.
